To the Servants of the most high God and His Son; Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ:
We Thank and praise Him for His presence and grace. Where would we be if He withheld His love, grace and mercy. Let’s thank Him for His long suffering and tender mercies.
We’re at a crossroads with the dawning of a new day. Our world continues to be in turmoil with the economy sinking to depths unheard of perhaps since the Great Depression of the 1920’s and early 1930’s. In fact one could argue that this one is the worst yet. Joblessness at an all time high, foreclosure rates unprecedented, the auto industry as we know it is dying, hopefully to be resurrected into new life that will benefit our working class citizens. The war in the middle east rage on with a promise that the end is in sight.
We’re at a crossroads. As a nation, history was made on January 20, 2009 as the 44th President was sworn in. The 44th President but the first one of African American origin. Most of us never thought we would see such an event. We dared to dream about it. In our own city, we experienced a year unlike anything in our history. We have a new Mayor who like President Obama expresses a message of Hope. This “Hope” movement is not new. There was one who was sent to us as the personification of Hope. We know in whom we have placed our Hope. He is the Foundation of our Hope. He is the focus of our Hope. And because He is and since He has done so much for us, we ought to Praise Him. Praise Him! He is so worthy, isn’t He?
So, since He is worthy, let’s focus our praise on Him. The crossroads that I spoke of earlier is this, the world praises it’s own and we should do likewise. Praise the one that has done so much for us. At the Rose of Sharon District and Church – “Praise Is What We Do”!
Yours in Christ,
Superintendent Ronald L. Griffin
