Our First Lady

First Lady Linda Faye Harris Griffin has served The Rose of Sharon COGIC at the side of her husband since he was appointed Pastor in 1992. First Lady Griffin was raised in the Church of God in Christ under the leadership of her late parents, Bishop Willie LeRoy Harris, and First Lady Ima Harris. She received the strong spirit of service and commitment to God's people from her mother, Ima Harris.

First lady Griffin is the spiritual role model for the women of the Rose of Sharon as she leads the churches women's department and does so by strong example. "Service to God's people" is what she emphasizes to the women everyday in her capacity as first lady and heads up many of the church's major events and outreach efforts.

She created the first "Children's Church" at the Rose of Sharon COGIC immediately after her husband's appointment as pastor in 1992, an accomplishment that has helped to grow the church's youth ministry into one of the most active and thriving ministries in the church. She was one of the founding officers of the church's JWATT (Jesus Was a Teenager Too) Youth Foundation that provides scholarships for deserving young people, along with a myriad of other services. She was and has remained a significant fundraiser for the foundation, raising approximately $20,000 over the past four years to send young people to college that would have never received that opportunity.

First Lady Griffin also spearheads the yearly Pre-Mother's Day Luncheon which highlights the work, sacrifice and spirit of deserving mothers as well as the annual Sister-to-Sister Dinner, a ministry which anonymously assigns "Sisters-to-Sisters" as prayer partners to provide spiritual support throughout an entire calendar year. Each year ends with the annual Christmas Dinner where they are identified and share gifts and testimonies of how the support manifested itself. In addition, she was the visionary for a most noteworthy ministry, the Transition Ministry. This ministry was established to address the needs of women who were single heads of households, who needed assistance in re-establishing themselves. The church purchased homes, completely renovated them (extreme makeover) and allowed the women and their families to reside in dignity without paying rent or utilities for approximately eighteen months. The mother was assisted during the eighteen months with money management and savings, debt reduction and management, employment, enrollment into college; and her children with tutoring, educational support in addition to health and well-being assistance.

First Lady Linda Faye Griffin is an excellent wife, mother, grandmother, god-mother and "best friend" to those who are in need and manages all of the above in addition to hospital visits, personal counseling, spiritual mentoring , attending graduations, plays, recitals, and so much more.
